It’s carnival time in the Canaries! Every February / March the Canary Islands party like there is no tomorrow. The fiestas are currently working their way around the towns and cities.

In Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura, we experienced an evening with ABBA and the Beatles (tribute bands) two weeks ago. With Puerto del Rosario drawing to a close our attention is turning to the Corralejo carnival in March. If you are visiting the islands before Easter, like to dress up and have a  good party, check out the area you are travelling to and make the most of it!

It is with deep sadness that all the staff at Sunway Canaries say farewell to Derek Pickersgill who recently passed away.

Those who knew Derek will remember him most for his energy and his passion which he had in abundance. He worked for Sunway Tenerife and Fuerteventura for 18 years, enthusiastically selling property and eventually being the driving force behind the success of the Fuerteventura office.

Derek’s zest for life was second to none, his weekends were enjoyed on the golf course and it was not uncommon for him to challenge clients to 9 or 18 holes. Such was his ability, Derek came 2nd equal in the 2004 Spanish Open Pro/Am tournament held in Fuerteventura.

He was a generous Yorkshire man who wore his heart on his sleeve. We will all miss his robust and charming character, he truely was one in a million.

The wonderful staff at Sunway The Estate Agents based in Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote would like to wish our Director Barry Macdonald a very very HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY for next Wednesday 11th July
